Brigid and Carl
Feb. 22, 2020
Today, Brigid was placed in her FURever home with Army Veteran, Carl Cordova in Aurora, Colorado.
Carl served his country after being drafted from 1971-1973 in Vietnam, as an Army Infantryman and Weapons Specialist. During his service, Carl was exposed to a variety of harmful substances including Agent Orange, which in his view have left a lasting impact.
Now at 71 years old, he has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, depression and post traumatic stress disorder. Given these mitigating factors the Veterans Administration classified him as permanently disabled.
We are proud to have partnered Carl and Brigid today, the compassionate care that she will provide is going to help. She will be able to offer comfort when needed by providing deep pressure therapy (aka hugs) and can pick items up for Carl when they are out of reach. She will bond with Carl and learn his non-verbal signals over time. The bond they share will last a lifetime and will enable Carl to enjoy life to the fullest with his new best buddy.
Congratulations Carl and we are so proud of Brigid!!!
