Our Mission
Supporting those living with physical or mental health-related challenges, providing trained service dogs to help those individuals, and working to establish true parity between mental and physical health care.
Our Vision
A future where those affected by physical and mental health related challenges can live comfortably, where access to a trained service dog is not cost prohibitive for anyone and a health services system that treats mental and physical health as one.
HOW WE Do It
Training Service Dogs
For decades it has been shown that trained dogs can offer a type of therapy unparalleled by modern day medicine and pharmaceuticals. For persons affected by trauma, the calming presence of a canine companion is a source of great comfort and security. We firmly believe that the addition of a service dog to the home of any one struggling is the beginning of a new family and partnership.
Legislative Advocacy
As an organization, we strive to spread our message of mental health parity to the world. Mental health related conditions still carry around a large stigma in today’s society. We hope to remedy that with our continued advocacy. Most mental health stigma stems from a lack of information, and the more it is openly discussed and understood, the more accepted conversations about mental health can be.
WHO WE HELP
Beyond A Buddy helps anyone affected by mental health and physical challenges. There are many conditions that respond well to the presence of a psychiatric service dog including, autism, schizophrenia, post traumatic stress disorder, panic disorders, and depression. These dogs can provide a bridge between “normal” society and the emotionally charged world these individuals face on a daily basis.
