Erinn & Lexi

dec. 26, 2020

Today, we’ve officially placed Erinn, into her FURever home with Lexi, who was originally her Foster mom.

Lexi moved cross country to San Francisco in February, just weeks before the quarantine began. As someone living with anxiety and depression already, the loneliness and uncertainty of the day to day became hard to handle.

Luckily, she met our Founder at the park and learned about the work that we do, here at Beyond A Buddy. She was blessed to welcome Erinn in as an 8 week old foster and to work alongside the organization and our incredible training team as Erinn learned the skills necessary to become a psychiatric service animal. After our team, vetted, researched and interviewed Lexi, we concluded that she not only qualified as a candidate for one of our dogs, but would also benefit from going through training alongside a service dog trainee. A few weeks ago, Erinn was officially placed with Lexi for good and they continue to go through training together as a team.

“It is hard to explain to someone who has never experienced mental illness or a panic attack, but the way Erinn is able to recognize my temperament and anxiety and act accordingly has undoubtedly changed my life forever. Mental illness is difficult to see from the outside and difficult to take on alone. My sweet Erinn girl and I are a team and I cannot thank Beyond a Buddy, Jacob and his team enough for the impact they have made in my life” - said Lexi about her experience with the program.

We are thrilled to see Lexi and Erinn progressing through the program together, the bond they share is going to last a lifetime. Due to the success of this pairing, we as an organization will begin to explore this tandem training approach on a case by case basis.
